New Nuclear Build in Britain, Going For a Low Carbon Economy
With the growing threat of irreversible climate change a new programme of new nuclear build is a strong possibility, as new nuclear plants replace decommissioning stations. As well as helping to achieve a low carbon economy, nuclear energy also contributes to securing an energy supply that is predictable and reliable. Among the sites earmarked by the Government as suitable for building new nuclear power station is Wylfa B on Anglesey. Health and safety regulatory hurdles and public consultations are part of a process which must be completed before a decision on new sites and reactor designs can be made.
