Accuweather explains the rare weather phenomenon called a firenado in this clip. Most firenados occur during extreme wildfires when a brush fire is whipped upwards by strong air currents to form a vortex. Rising heated air and sucked in fuel helps strengthen the firenado. Accuweather says a firenado can be as tall as five to ten stories high. Windspeeds in the strongest firenados can top 100 mph. Firenados are generally very short lived. The video clip also mentions a firestorm that followed the 1923 Tokyo earthquake. The fire killed over 30,000 people in less than 15 minutes. Take a look:
